How to Effectively Learn a New Skill Even With Your BUSY 9 to 5 Job 4
1 question I believe every BUSY person like YOU has when they deeply desire to upskill is the question of balance.
You want to learn a new skill so you can grow your income yet your current income generator is very demanding and you need to keep paying it attention because you can’t afford to lose it and go back to square one.
Trust me, I’ve been down that road and I know first hand that learning a new skill while balancing a very demanding full-time job might seem daunting, but with the right mindset and strategy, it’s totally achievable because it’s how I got here!
Luckily, I have some tips that have helped me achieve my goals over the years till now all while working full time with clients and I believe they can help you handle both your job and learning a new skill efficiently if Upskilling for a Money Making 2024 is a sincere goal for you.
To start with, I want you to ask yourself the following questions;
- What skills do I want to learn?
- Why do I need this skill?
- Where can I learn this skill?
The answers to these questions will inform your decisions so you need to be honest and detailed.
Now the tips I have for you:
- Establish Specific Objectives: Establish your learning objectives and the skill you wish to acquire, then break it down into doable tasks. Having a clear purpose will keep you motivated even when things get tough.
- Set Priorities and Make a Schedule: Take a good look at your schedule and identify the time that you can dedicate to learning. It might mean waking up a bit earlier or utilizing your lunch breaks more effectively. Set aside specific times during the day or week to focus only on learning, and make sure you adhere to them diligently, even if it’s 30 minutes of your lunch break Mondays to Fridays. That is 30 minutes X 5 which equals to 150 minutes weekly and some courses aren’t even up to that so imagine how many you can take in a month if you’re serious based on your learning goals and objectives.
- Remain Organized: Believe me when I say chaos will weigh you down! To prevent feeling overburdened, maintain an orderly record of your notes, resources, and progress. Have a physical journal or an app where you keep track of all your resources. This will certainly help you know what you’ve done, are doing and should do per time.
- Ask for assistance: Talk to someone about your objectives, and don’t be afraid to seek assistance from mentors, coworkers, or internet communities that are relevant to the skill you are learning. You gotta surround yourself with like-minded individuals who share your passion for growth. Having a support network can provide invaluable encouragement and accountability along the way.
- Stay Consistent: I cannot overemphasize how crucial being consistent is. Make sure you always show up, don’t let feelings get in your way. Dedicating a small amount of time daily can lead to significant progress overtime.Never let your emotions lead you because 10 minutes into doing the work, you’ll begin to feel better and the dopamine feeling when you’re done is exceptional!
- Be Patient and Kind to Yourself: I know you know that learning something new takes time and effort, don’t get discouraged by setbacks or slow progress. Please always celebrate your achievements along the way, no matter how small they may seem; they eventually add up! And when you miss some days because of unavoidable reasons, you can always get back on track – JUST MAKE SURE YOU GET BACK ON TRACK.
Remember, little drops of water make an ocean, and a new skill will not be mastered overnight. Stay focused, stay determined, and most importantly, enjoy the journey of growth and self-improvement!
